Completing Your Transformation
For many of my patients, achieving a sculpted body is only part of the journey. You have worked hard to contour your abdomen, waist, and limbs, but a heavy neck or "double chin" can disconnect your profile from your new physique.
I approach the Neck Lift with the same philosophy as my body contouring surgeries: it is about sculpting, defining, and creating athletic angles. This is not just about looking younger; it is about looking fit and proportional.
The "High Definition" Neck Lift
Dr. Bravo utilizes advanced contouring techniques to treat the neck as a distinct aesthetic unit:
1. Deep Sculpting (Liposuction) Just as we contour the waist, we must aggressively (yet safely) contour the sub-mental fat. Dr. Bravo removes the heavy fat deposits that hide the jawbone, revealing the natural "skeletonized" look of a fit individual.
2. Muscle Definition (Platysmaplasty) Loose muscle bands in the neck are similar to finding muscle separation (diastasis) in the tummy tuck. Dr. Bravo tightens the platysma muscle like a corset. This creates a sharp 90-degree angle under the chin, similar to the definition we seek in body sculpting.
3. Skin Redraping After the underlying structure is tightened, the skin is smoothed back to eliminate the "turkey neck" effect, ensuring the skin quality matches the firmness of your treated body areas.
The Perfect "Add-On"
This procedure is frequently performed as a finishing touch during larger body surgeries.
Post-Weight Loss: If you are having a Body Lift or Arm Lift, adding a Neck Lift ensures that loose skin doesn't remain visible at the top of your shirt collar.
Mommy Makeover: While we restore the breast and abdomen, a neck lift ensures your face looks as refreshed and energetic as your new body.
Recovery
Downtime: Expect to wear a supportive chin strap (similar to a faja for the face) for the first week. Most patients are socially presentable in 10–14 days.
